What Techvenation Google Maps Extractor does

Techvenation Google Maps Extractor runs from a supported Google Maps search-results page. It works through visible business listings, collects the selected public fields and stores the current job locally in Chrome. You can stop a job, close the popup, switch browser tabs and resume the same search without automatically deleting the rows already saved.

Depending on what a listing publishes, the extension can collect the business name, category, phone, website, address, rating, review count, current open status, opening-hours summary, weekly hours, latitude, longitude, Maps URL and place identifier. Version 1.5.0 also includes optional public email and company-description enrichment. These options visit the public website linked by the listing and therefore require additional website access from Chrome.

When this business research tool is useful

A Google Maps business extractor can reduce repetitive work when building an authorized supplier list, checking the coverage of an existing directory, preparing a local market study, identifying potential project partners or reviewing public business information for data-quality purposes. It can also help a sales or operations team prepare a research file before a human verifies each business and decides whether contact is appropriate.

The extension is not a permission to send unsolicited messages. Public availability does not remove privacy, platform or communications obligations. Your organization remains responsible for its purpose, lawful basis, data minimization, verification, retention, opt-out process and outreach practices.

How to install the Chrome extension

1. Download the extension ZIP from the Techvenation tool page.
2. Extract the complete ZIP into a permanent folder on your computer.
3. Open Google Chrome and enter chrome://extensions/ in the address bar.
4. Enable Developer mode in the upper-right corner.
5. Select Load unpacked.
6. Choose the extracted techvenation-gmaps-extractor folder containing manifest.json.
7. Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin the extractor for convenient access.

Chrome installs unpacked extensions from the selected folder, so do not delete or move that folder afterward. When Techvenation releases an updated package, replace the extracted folder and use the Reload button on the extension card.

Prepare a focused Google Maps search

Open Google Maps and search for one business type in one clearly defined location. For example, a focused query such as “IT support companies in Dubai” is normally more manageable than a broad query covering many unrelated services and cities. Allow the results list to load before opening the extension.

Search quality matters. If the query mixes several intents, the exported spreadsheet will also contain mixed results. Separate research jobs make validation, segmentation and duplicate review easier. Use New Search / Clear only when you intentionally want to remove the locally stored job and begin a different result set.

Choose fields and filters

Set the maximum number of businesses and choose a delay. The Normal or Safer setting is a sensible starting point because pages need time to load. Larger limits do not guarantee that Google Maps will make that number of unique listings available.

Standard Maps fields can be collected without broad access to other websites. Opening timing and day-wise hours are useful when operating schedules matter. The weekly-hours option also calculates Open Days and Off Days when sufficient information is available.

Email and Company description are optional enrichment features. When either is enabled, Chrome asks for permission to access public websites. Email enrichment checks the listed website and up to two likely contact or about pages for public addresses. Description enrichment prefers the public Maps description and can use the website’s public meta description as a fallback. Disable both features if you do not need them.

The available quality filters include With phone, With website, With email, Open now and a selected day. A filter can reduce the final file substantially because a business is saved only when it meets the chosen condition. Start with a small test before running a larger research job.

Start, stop and resume a job

Select Start / Resume while the relevant Google Maps tab is active. The popup displays the current status, number of saved unique businesses and listings scanned. Keep the Maps tab open. You can switch to another tab, and the extension preserves the job state locally.

If you select Stop, reload the Maps tab or close and reopen the popup, the saved rows remain. Return to the same Maps search and select Start / Resume to continue. If the extension detects a different search, it prepares a new result set rather than merging unrelated queries.

How duplicate protection works

Google Maps interfaces can expose the same organization in more than one visible element. Techvenation Google Maps Extractor uses several signals instead of relying on the business name alone. It compares place identifiers, normalized name and phone combinations, normalized name and address combinations, and coordinates when available.

When matching records contain different useful fields, the extension merges those fields into one row. Before CSV creation, it performs another duplicate pass, including rows collected by an older version. Duplicate protection improves the file, but a human should still review franchises, departments, branches and businesses with similar names.

Export an Excel-ready CSV

Select Export CSV after reviewing the saved count. The extension creates the file locally in Chrome. It includes a UTF-8 marker for international and Arabic characters. Phone numbers are written in an Excel-safe text format so UAE numbers beginning with zero and international numbers beginning with a plus sign are not silently converted or damaged by spreadsheet software.

The exported columns can include Name, Category, Company Description, Phone, Email, All Emails, Website, Address, Rating, Reviews, Open Status, Hours Summary, Open Days, Off Days, Monday through Sunday, Latitude, Longitude, Google Maps URL, Place ID and Scraped At.

Verify and use the information responsibly

No automated extraction method guarantees that every field is available, current or correct. Businesses change telephone numbers, websites, names, hours and locations. Google Maps can also change its page structure. Verify important records against the business’s official website or direct confirmation before relying on them for procurement, compliance, service delivery or important commercial decisions.

Remove information that is irrelevant to your legitimate purpose. Do not collect sensitive personal data, bypass access controls or keep information indefinitely. Before any outreach, apply your organization’s lawful-basis review, suppression list, opt-out handling and frequency controls. Requirements can differ by country, recipient type and communication channel.

Privacy and permission design

Settings, current job state and extracted rows stay in Chrome extension storage. CSV files are generated in the browser, and extracted rows are not transmitted to Techvenation. The extension’s base access is limited to supported Google Maps pages.

Broader HTTP and HTTPS access is optional. Chrome requests it only when you enable public email or company-description enrichment. The enrichment worker rejects local, loopback and common private IPv4 destinations, limits public HTML reads and processes only the selected public signals. You can disable enrichment, clear stored results, revoke optional access in Chrome or remove the extension at any time.
